My paintings are just a snippet of a sunset, focusing on the clouds. Maybe you’ve never thought of sunsets as chaos - but if you take a moment, you’ll see that there are so many differences among the clouds. Their range of colors and shapes can be vast but somehow it’s a moment in time that we can sit back and enjoy their calming effect. Sometimes it’s the vibrant colors that captivate us in a sunset, but for me it’s the gentle softness of the clouds that draws me in.They offer softness into our lives no matter what we’re going through; they allow us to take a breath and slow down for a moment. I try to capture that paradox in my paintings, chaos and calm with countless layers of paint until it feels just right to me. Darkness of the night creeping in against the warming light of the sun, they’re working together to create a harmonious gift for us.
